Istanbul conference to follow Bridges of Fashion theme

The Turkish Clothing Manufacturers' Association (TCMA) will next week host the inaugural Istanbul Fashion, Textile and Apparel Conference and Exhibition in a bid to draw attention to the country's potential for apparel sourcing.

The two-day event will follow the theme 'Bridges of Fashion, where design and production meet', bringing together global key players in the fashion, design and apparel manufacturing markets.

Speakers will share information on new practices and guidelines for the future of the industry, with a keynote presentation by William Fung, group managing director of the world's largest sourcing company Li & Fung. Representatives from European fashion retailers, who are increasingly looking to Turkey for quick-turnarounds in apparel sourcing, will also speak, and include Hennes & Mauritz production manager KG Fagerlin, Nick Jones, global sourcing director for UK retailer Marks & Spencer and Tesco's Christophe Roussel.

Turkish representatives from the TCMA, the country's department of industry and commerce and universities, will also assess the market's potential.
